Complete training app for cyclists that will push you to your limits and have you begging for mercy

The Sufferfest cycling videos were released years ago and changed the way that I viewed indoor training….or indoor suffering. The videos themselves are all highly structured and focus on racing, climbing, endurance, speed, base, or time trialing and include real race footage and killer soundtracks to draw you right into the action (there may be a little trash talking included as well, but hey, it’s for your own good).

Initially sold as individual videos that were purchased and downloaded, they have since changed their platform and now have a comprehensive library of training videos all included in their app. I’ve been incredibly impressed with the comprehensive nature of this app, and the simplicity of navigating through it. However, it has not been Android friendly which the Minions are still working on as of early 2020, which means that I don’t have full app functionality on my Android phone (annoying for now but not a game changer). The app is currently offered on Mac, ioS and Windows; I’m currently using the Windows version and streaming through my laptop. Your subscription gives you unlimited access to everything on the app. The app is much more comprehensive than I can include in this review so I’d encourage you to take a look for yourselves, and if you decide to try the Free 14 day trial, they will advise and coach you along the way to make sure you get the most out of your trial experience (unlike some of the other apps that I’ve tried where I spent much of the free trial trying to figure out how things worked).

I have not been using the app with a smart trainer, instead using my Cycleops 300 Pro spin bike with PowerTap, which has not allowed me to fully integrate with the app. But……I will hopefully be able to integrate fully with a Wahoo Kickr Smart bike once my bike arrives, so I will update my experience with that once I get the chance to spend some time on it.

Here’s a few of the highlights from the app:

- Access to the complete cycling training library, strength workouts, yoga, and “mental prep” exercises. Countless videos to choose from so you never get bored!

- Comprehensive training plans that will sync right to your app passport and can be shared with strava, garmin, training peaks, etc. Customized training plans available for additional but reasonable cost. Many plans to choose from including XC mtb racing, triathlon, road, cyclocross. I first chose the “mountainous grand fondo plan” for my early season endurance MTB races because it had a good mix of speed, endurance, and climbing and was a great balance of indoor/outdoor training

- Unique 4DP fitness testing (more comprehensive than just training off FTP alone) which you can complete on your own and create your own personal targets for all your workouts. Start and finish your training plan with the test to see your progress!

- Videos contain real-time ride profiles, interval timers, sound alerts, effort indicators, and dynamic performance targets mean you can focus on the important things, like getting faster.

- Excellent and quick customer support (that is if you can’t find an answer to your question already

on their app with the included articles and videos).
