NOPINZ Subzero Skin Suit - the EVOLUTION of Indoor Training

Updated: Feb 14, 2022

If you are looking for a way to keep cool and comfortable doing hard indoor workouts, take a look at the Nopinz Subzero skinsuit. You will not be disappointed!

PROS:

- Extremely Breathable - keeps you incredibly dry

- Comfortable chamois that also stays dry

- Cooling effect with additional custom ice packs (even without the ice packs it's much cooler than traditional cycling clothing)

- Well thought out and more functional than what you get with other, more expensive indoor specific apparel

CONS:

- Price. Overall this kit is very well priced in my opinion, but some riders may not want to justify the cost of any additional indoor specific apparel when they already have cycling clothing

- Shipping costs to U.S. are a little higher

If you are you sick of riding in soggy, stinky clothes while training indoors, look no further! The Nopinz Subzero indoor specific cycling kit will change your indoor riding experience!

With the growth of indoor cycling, more and more companies are releasing indoor cycling gear. I never really considered purchasing separate indoor specific cycling clothing because I have a drawers full of regular and high-end cycling clothing. However, the more I started training indoors the more I started realizing that the demands of indoor training are certainly different than outdoor cycling. Just ask those that happen to be passing by when you are sweating away pumping out those big watts (or in my case, those baby watts). My post-workout cycling gear usually went directly into the wash because it was so toxic ;)

To help accommodate the unique demands of indoor training, not only is the Subzero kit made of super breathable and wicking material, it's also made with an indoor cycling specific chamois which works incredibly well at providing the right amount of cushion for riding indoors (I have completed 6-hour training rides in this kit without any issues). The kit is well thought out and has 2 separate rear pockets where you can insert custom ice packs in between your shoulder blades and in your lower back to help keep you cool during those high intensity workouts. It even comes with a sleek insulated carrying case so you can have extra ice packs nearby when you need to switch them out. The ice packs typically last about 20 to 30 minutes. You can also purchase separate wrist- bands, good for wiping away excess sweat and also with pockets for the custom ice packs to keep you even cooler. I should also mention that if you don't like training in a full suit, Nopinz does also offer a bib short option made of the same amazing material and also with the cooling pockets in the upper and lower back regions.

I usually get done with a workout sopping wet and I have been amazed at how dry I still feel after finishing a hard workout. Just ask my workout mat underneath my Wahoo Kickr bike. The "stink factor" is definitely improved as well, although I can't make any promises there ;)

In regards to durability, the kit should be washed in cold water with gentle cycle (I wash mine in the machine on the hand wash or delicate setting) and the kit should be dried inside out to keep the silicone leg grippers from sticking to themselves. So far, after about 40 washes the kit has held up very well without any signs of breakdown. I would caution though, since the material is very lightweight, and since it is a skin suit which fits snuggly, caution should be made when pulling on the kit itself. In regards to sizing, the sizing charts on the website seem fairly accurate but may run a little small. For reference, I'm 5'6 123 pounds and was in the middle of an X-Small and Small so I opted for the Small. It fits tight like a skinsuit should, but if you do like things a little looser with a little "wiggle room", I would suggest ordering a size up. In my case, I ordered a second kit in a women's size Large and would say that both sizes do the trick (although for super long rides at 3+ hours,I like the larger size; for some reason I like a little more "give" in the chamois to move around).
